The rise of Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies is inevitable. Professionals from all kinds of industries are either excited or panicked depending on their views.

But what everyone should understand is that those kinds of technologies can offer exciting new opportunities for hundreds of different occupations.

Working from home will change forever

Right now, there are dozens of opportunities for people who wish to work from home. Anyone can simply start up a blog, create a YouTube channel, or invest in their freelancing skills across numerous niches such as writing and designing.

All of those areas will change dramatically in the next few years. For instance, IoT will open up new opportunities for those who wish to work for themselves. Imagine, for example, a new subtype of decoration that will integrate smart home devices.

Designers, writers, and everyone else who are already doing some kind of freelancing work will also be afforded new opportunities in their work, particularly through AI systems and the automated services they can provide.

A writer will soon be able to quickly retrieve a list of extremely relevant topics, keywords, sources, and everything else required for a writing gig through an automated service. Then, they will be able to focus entirely on the writing aspect.

The same is true for all the current working from home jobs. There is nothing that a combination of AI and IoT cannot improve upon, especially in regards to jobs that have everything to do with the Internet and related technologies.

New types of working from home jobs will be created

In the next part of the digital age, AI technologies will make several jobs redundant or they will change them in a fundamental way. Recently, the broader fields of customer support and customer experience have been targeted by such technologies in fascinating ways.

The chatbots found in Facebook Messenger are a good example of that. Users can now ask simple questions, search for products, book flights, and more without ever leaving the chat app, something which is made possible via the AI bots.

However, some human input is still necessary. For example, a customer might have a very complex question that cannot be answered by an AI. A digital assistant can only do so much and then its human counterparts have to take over.

In such cases, there might be new working from home opportunities. Many companies who maintain customer support offices may now outsource work to individuals who are working from their homes.

After providing some training to people on AI assistants, they could open up new avenues for customer experience services too.

A clothes company could develop an app that would be able to digitally showcase a number of different clothes to potential customers. Then, with the help of a human assistant, the users could determine what suits them best and make purchases on the spot.

IoT will also transform the workplace

While some office environments are slow to adapt to new technologies, there are many others who readily adopt the latest and greatest in tech in order to improve productivity, increase profit margins, and provide a better workplace for their employees.

With IoT, there is an opportunity to truly transform the workplace in countless ways. For example, data gathering will soon become a process entirely different to what we are used to nowadays.

From a consumer side of view, users on the Internet will be able to have a much more personalized experience because automated services and IoT devices will be able to measure and accurately predict their habits, needs, and wants.

And from a business side of things, professions like marketers and others who rely on data gathering will have a much easier time collecting and analyzing an incredible amount of data, far faster and more efficiently than before.
